Pandemic On Ice
This "northeaster" brought about ten inches of snow to NYC. That's really not very much. But when plowed,
any substantial snowfall tends toward mountains of snow and deep puddles of slush — a winter
challenge common to this city's streetcorners. The pandemic has made things worse: many more stretches of sidewalk
remain unshoveled where businesses have been abandoned and property owners aren't clearing the snow away.
With time, snow gets hard-packed and becomes smooth and slippery. If the temperature stays cold, people
will be falling on the ice.
